… to Luke Andresen – our students are in good hands!
Luke who graduated from an Honours Year with distinction from Monash University as a rising star … has become a steady contributor to Melbourne’s esteemed live music scene, building a performance career playing alongside many famous musicians both locally and abroad. Luke has already gained a wealth of touring experience including USA and Barbados in 2014, Japan for the Tokyo International Jazz Festival with Paul Grabowsky in 2016 and an extensive tour of regional China and Shanghai in 2016/17. To be selected to tour internationally with such an esteemed veteran musician is a very high honour and a testament to the regard in which Luke is held within the music industry.
These tour experiences have led to recording opportunities overseas with Jazz musicians in New York City.
As a result of this Luke knows and understands the role of a professional drummer in many contexts (small ensembles to large, jazz, pop, etc) and can draw on this performance experience as a teacher, preparing students for any performance situation they may encounter.
Luke teaches students of all ages and all stages of development. He has much to offer the beginner, those of intermediate and advanced stages though to those seeking to become a professional musician.
And … Luke is now teaching at Moving Into Music’s Kew studio on a brand new Alesis Nitro Mesh Drum-Kit.
This 5 piece Electronic drum-set includes Hi-Hat, Crash and Ride cymbals … on a full mesh head kit.The mesh drum heads have a quiet yet natural response on an 8″ dual-zone snare pad plus 3 x 8″ tom pads. The Nitro features a module filled with sounds and surprises on a backlit screen which makes navigation a breeze … over 40 classical and modern ready to play percussion sounds are included in this module.
Luke is delighted to be teaching on this kit … we welcome all students past as well as present to come in and try it out!
