Moving Into Music’s talented piano teacher Nicholas Young, Internationally acclaimed, Award Winning concert pianist & ‘Young Steinway Artist’ together with renowned 10 String Spanish Classical Guitarist Matthew Fagan, will be performing a celebration of Spanish repertoire for the guitar and piano, from classical masterpieces to flamenco styles of Paco De Lucia and Paco Pena and modern jazz.

joins internationally renowned 10 String Guitarist Matthew Fagan to combine musical passion and  virtuosity to celebrate the Spirit of Spain “El Vito”.

The duo in a world first, bring together the traditional flamenco elements of Spanish Guitar
with the concert masterpieces of composers Isaac Albeniz, Manuel De Falla, Joaquin Rodrigo in
stunning new arrangements.  The great concert music of the Spanish Piano Masters Albeniz and
Granados are reinterpreted exploring the exhilarating flamenco guitar techniques of Paco De Lucia
and Paco Pena blending with virtuoso concert piano.

Highlights of “Espana” are Sevilla, Asturias and Tango of Isaac Albeniz combined with the traditional flamenco guitar dances of “Sevillianis”, “Granadinas” and “Tangos” that initially inspired Albeniz.  Rodrigo’s famous Concierto de Aranjuez is explored through its flamenco origins of “Tarantos” and “Rodena” combined with the stunning orchestral realisation arranged for Concert Piano.
The famous dances from Manuel De Falla ballet “The Three Cornered Hat, El sombrero de tres picos is performed with stunning flamenco fire with the orchestral piano arrangement.
A world premiere of Egberto Gismonti piece “Frevo Rasgado” as originally performed by Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin has been reinterpreted for concert piano and 10 String Guitar with stunning rhythmic drive and stunning orchestration.
“Espana El Vito” celebrates the passion and grand vision of Orchestral Spanish music arranged for concert piano with the rhythmic drive and fire of Spanish Flamenco Guitar.
All these colors of Spanish Music from  passionate dance to the beautiful emotive melody of Andalucia are the journey of “Espana El Vito”.

He has long been established as one of Australia’s finest exponents of the guitar.  Matthew has toured with Billy Connolly, The Buena Vista Social Club, Shirley Bassey, Natalie Cole and Michael Crawford.  Matthew’s virtuosic rendition of Bach’s famous Toccata in D Minor featured on ABC TV.

Matthew has performed in more than 120 countries worldwide as a soloist, with orchestra and bands including extensive touring across Europe, South America, Alaska, Canada, China, Japan and South East Asia.

Matthew’s music education has been at the Victorian College of the Arts (Performance -Classical and improvisation), Monash University (Ethnomusicology, Composition Education) and a Masters PHD of Cultural Development at the University of Melbourne.   Matthew has studied and/or performed with masters John Williams, Paco Pena, Leo Kottke, Martin Taylor, Joe Pass amongst others.
