MOVING INTO MUSIC – ONLINE CONCERT – Pianos: Sunday 1st August @ 12.00noon

Concert 3: 12.00 noon | Piano Students of Zac Hamilton-Russell

It was Sunday and Zac, having finished his usual Sunday morning organist duties, treated us to a concert live-streamed from his church – St Andrew’s in Brighton.

As he hosted his concert and in greeting his students and their families, he was seated in front of the massive pipe organ. Having lost three of his students to Concert 1 and another withdrawing at the last minute, his usual high number of performers was down a little. Those that remained more than made up for it and delivered a wonderful concert. They did a sterling job, showing no nerves and performing splendidly – showing their skills and leaving us in no doubt that they are well taught.

Zac had prepared a surprise ending … for his own item – he performed on the organ. This music, entitled ‘Basses et Dessus de Trompette’, allowed him to pull out the stops for that trumpet to blast forth. It was a fantastic treat … and it demonstrated playing on the three keyboards, operating the stops and the foot pedals – no mean feat! The sun was streaming in from a window above the organ loft sending heavenly beams across Zac’s shoulder – the effect was quite celestial!!

In closing each concert the Principal spoke about 5 Highlighted words saying they applied to the the performers:

Joy … because of the joy and the pleasure they had brought to everyone through their performance.
Courage … because they had shown it … and as a reminder because it always takes courage to face the challenge of performing.
Effort … because they had put in effort, work and practice to carry off their performance.

Resilience … because they had demonstrated it – in tough times, with many changes and setbacks they had shown strength and stuck with their music
Congratulations … because the Principal, the teachers, the parents and the families all want to say “Congratulations, Well Done and ThankYou” for a wonderful concert!
