“Dear Moving Into Music students, families and friends,

Winter is upon us in earnest – but we have a reprieve. We are on Term break and school holidays so many of our students are enjoying the freedoms and pleasures of down-time. The second week of the term break begins next week … so we hope our students and teachers are able to refresh and rejuvenate their spirits as the week unfolds before we return to lessons for Term 3.

The first three weeks of the new term lead us into the Solos Concerts at the end of July. We trust that the holidays and these three weeks provide valuable time for our students to prepare and polish their items for the concerts. We look forward to seeing everyone at MLC to celebrate our music-making and our achievements.

In this Monthly edition we focus on two emerging artists who are Melbourne locals. Husband and wife, Zoy Frangos and Elisa Colla are both singers – both artists with careers on the rise. Like many other musicians, they heavily felt the brunt of the covid crisis – lockdowns, lost contracts and lost earnings. Like many others in this predicament they looked for ways to sustain themselves. They found distractions and new projects … among these their foray into cooking. They cooked to survive the physical and mental pressures. Here we introduce them to you. Read what they did, what they cooked and please support, if you are able, their return to performing. Their upcoming concert at the Arts Centre Melbourne on 18th July is your chance! Moving Into Music champions such artists – we see them as vital to the cultural life-blood of our city. They need us … we need them … and we support them.

Solo Concerts: LIVE @ MLC, Barkers Rd, Kew

It is with great pleasure, after two years of lockdowns and consequent Online Concerts, that we return this year to live concerts. Let’s celebrate by gathering together, in person, eager to support and acknowledge the efforts of our students and teachers.
